Unmanned influence sweep planned for LCS

Having abandoned plans to deploy towed sweep gear from an embarked MH-60S helicopter, rather than use a vessel-based system, the Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS) acquisition effort is being progressed through the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), with a draft Request for Proposals (RFP) released in late 2012. This indicates plans for the competitive acquisition of UISS engineering development models from up to two contractors.
