FB Design wins EC contracts

Italian patrol boat builder FB Design has won a contract to build 10 patrol boats for Turkey. The contact, which is valued at 8 million (US$10.7 million), was won against international competition and was awarded by the European Union. Five patrol boat builders were involved in the bidding for the prestigious contact.The boats that will be built under this contract are a new departure for FB Design. Their range of boats is based on high-performance craft with speeds in excess of 40knots. This contract called for patrol boats with the modest speed requirement of 30knots so FB Design has modified one of its standard hulls to accommodate a conventional propeller and shaft drive system with the propellers operating in semi-tunnels.
