Focusing on the 'Green' target

The on-going concern for energy resources and emissions reduction remains a major topic for maritime research and technological development. Scott Gatchell, and Jochen Marzi, of Hamburgische Schiffbau Versuchsanstalt GmbH (HSVA) look at the projects in which HSVA are involved. HSVA is involved in several research projects to investigate various aspects of energy use and emissions output of a ship over its entire life cycle. These developments are based on the application of the latest CFD techniques implemented in the in-house code FreSCo+. The maritime industry benefits from this research by improved ship performance in designs and operations.
