New strength assessment software

A new software system from ClassNK will provide structural design support to container carriers as they try to meet the class society's latest rule amendments following findings from ClassNK's investigation into a large container carrier casualty. PrimeShip-HULL for Container Carriers, a "total design support tool" according to ClassNK, has been designed alongside the new rule amendments to increase the efficiency and quality of container carrier structural design, and is based on a similar tool that supports the safe design of bulk carriers and oil tankers compliant with the IACS Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers.
