Eastern Shipbuilding in the US has been awarded a Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) contract for the first Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC), USCGC Argus (WMSM 915). The contract was awarded on 7 September 2017. The LLTM award allows Eastern to move forward to deliver a capable and affordable platform to meet the US Coast Guards (USCG's) mission needs. The award includes main propulsion, machinery control, electrical and mechanical equipment orders that need to be placed in advance of awarding the construction contract for USCGC Argus, which is expected to occur in late summer of 2018 with delivery in August 2021.
