Design awards announced

Aunique feature of the bi-annual NOR-Shipping Exhibition is its awards programme that recognises the efforts that shipowners, designers and others go to in order to keep ships evolving to meet today's demands, writes Malcolm Latarche. There is some overlap in the criteria for the Energy Efficiency Award and the Next Generation Award but whereas the former is for an existing ship, the latter is for a ship or concept that has yet to be completed. In both instances, the ship or project has to be entered by the owner or an organisation with a strong connection to it so the jury members are not at liberty to pick from all vessels or projects.
