With the introduction of theglobal 0.5% sulphur capcoming into force in January2020, IMO estimates up to 70,000 shipsmay be affected. Consequently, manyowners and operators are expected tochange from heavy fuel oils to compliantfuels such as marine gas oil, distillates andnewly developed hybrid oils.
