China to build autonomous ship test facility

In a first for Asia, China has begun the construction of a test field for autonomous and unmanned ships in Guangdong province. Dubbed the Wanshan Marine Test Field, the facility is located off the coast of Zhuhai and will span 225sq nautical miles. A collaborative team of academic, industry and government partners, including Zhuhau municipal government, CCS, Wuhan University of Technology and Yunzhou Tech, will be responsible for the project.
