Turkish shipbuilding is still battling to shrug off the 'developing' tag, and to secure an established place as one of the world's premier shipbuilding nations. While, for example, Croatia has forced its way into the 'top ten' in the shipbuilding league, and Romania is just outside, Turkey has in reality not made the breakthrough into the 'elite' - despite the relative optimism reported in our October Editorial Comment last year and busy times as some yards.
