An alternative to ISGOTT for hot work in FPSO tanks

Through-life maintenance of FPSOs and FSOs is inevitable, and this will include steel renewals and modifications within enclosed vessels and tanks. Currently there are no specific industry guidelines addressing the associated hot work issues. In this article Andrew Peden, Andrew Newport and Stuart Holtby, from Single Buoy Moorings (SBM), review the requirements of 'International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers & Terminals' (ISGOTT) and contrast them with SBM's approach to hot work on FPSOs.
