Comfort class for patrol boats

Det Norske Veritas' Comfort Class, which deals with noise and vibration levels in ships, has traditionally been used in reference to cruise ships (The Naval Architect, March 2005). Recently, however, this classification society has seen an increase in the number of offshore vessels using this notation. Over the past few years, the size and engine power of offshore support ships has considerably increased. One reason for this is the servicing of offshore installations at increasingly greater water depths, as well as the general development of more underwater installations and operations.
