President Joe Biden signed a National Security Memorandum on Improving Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure Control Systems in July, addressing cybersecurity for critical infrastructure in two ways. 1.It directs the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Institute of Standards & Technology, in collaboration with other agencies, to develop cybersecurity performance goals for critical infrastructure. 2.It formally establishes the President's Industrial Control System Cybersecurity (ICS) initiative-a voluntary effort between the federal government and the critical infrastructure community to facilitate the deployment of control system cybersecurity technologies.
