Building or property owners ultimately need efficient and effective tools to predict, estimate and justify maintenance and repair costs. An asset preservation program is one such tool that can be used to understand how assets perform and the budgets necessary to improve their performance.rnStarting from scratch can be a daunting task considering all of the other issues an owner has to deal with. Each building, campus, or portfolio may have different needs and priorities. There may even be mission-critical issues that factor into the decision making process. The key for the owner is to start implementing an asset management program for one system, such as roofs, and, as funds become available, incorporate additional systems like pavements, facades, or even mechanical systems. The more systems included in the program, the better a building owner's budgeting forecasts will become, resulting in best practice protocols for funding allocations.
