The New Federal Road Building Program

For the first time in the history of road building in America there is now a firm, long-range, balanced Federal Aid construction program. This was established when President Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 into law on lune 29. Great emphasis and wide publicity have been given to the staggering size of the $100 billion, 13-year program, $50 billion of which is to be spent on the Federal Aid Systems and a like sum on the other streets, roads, and highways in the city, county, and state networks not included in the Federal Aid System.
