The Omaha Post recently held the 23rd annual competition and awards night for its Student Mentoring Program (SMP). Remarked Col. John Henderson, USA, Omaha Post President: "The program opens the student s eyes to STEM as a possible career field. We have seen students cycle through on project teams and then come back years later as professionals to serve as judges and mentors. The program really allows SAME to focus on the future of America." Students participating in SMP are challenged with critical thinking to solve real-world problems. SAME pairs local teachers with interested students and mentors from engineering or architecture or related fields to expose them to experiences, resources and techniques that reach beyond academic settings.
