Our Annual Conference this year focused on the new BALPA vision of'Making Every Flight a Safe Flight'. It was a great success, and we are grateful for the high calibre speakers that presented their expertise with such clarity to our delegates. The'just culture' provided key speeches from Peter Tait of CHIRP (Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme) and Charles Haddon-Cave QC. CHIRP does great work, providing a conduit for unidentified reporting of occurrences that may not be reported otherwise. This anonymity allows multiple reporting by an individual without fear of sanction by an employer who may consider the reporter the common factor in each event.
