Welcome to the autumn edition of The Log. Summer is often a quiet time industrially but this year proved the exception. As well as dealing with numerous industrial issues over the summer we are now faced with a serious situation in the helicopter sector. Many of our colleagues are facing redundancy after cutbacks in North Sea oil companies and are naturally distraught at the prospect of losing their jobs. BALPA is, of course, heavily involved in making sure that employers act in a fair and equitable way to save as many jobs as possible. BALPA will be there to help and support them whatever the outcome.
