Most of us fly secure in the knowledge that our aircraft are properly maintained, and so they are. No one wants an accident. We're paid and trained to ensure that we don't cause one. Likewise, our engineering colleagues are trained and paid to ensure the same safe passage for all. But what about your pension, is that as safe? Every month we pay a fair chunk of our hard-earned salary into 'the scheme' without much thought. The company and the trustees look after it and legislation now ensures that its assets are protected and secure. We trust these safeguards in the same way that we trust the engineers who keep our 'office' safe. But that's not enough.
