Training in Evolution

At the time of writing this column I have just completed the round of regional AGMs which took me near to home and over the water. On our visits to London, Birmingham, Salisbury, Newcastle, Glasgow and Dublin, both Richard Frost and I were warmly welcomed at all the meetings and we thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. I would congratulate all the outgoing Chairmen for their successful years and wish the new Chairs a year to remember - not forgetting all the Secretaries and Treasurers who efficiently and (most often) quietly keep the whole show on the road. To recap on my previous observation, the enthusiasm and level of activity in our regions is somewhat unique. It is also a great strength of our Institution which perhaps allows us to fight above our weight when dealing with other organisations.
