Valladolid Wins First Prize in 2011 City-People-Light Awards

The Spanish city of Valladolid has taken top spot in the ninth annual City-People-Light Awards for the use of light to enhance urban well-being, organised by Philips Lighting and the Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI). Valladolid won the award, against 23 other cities, for its 'Rivers of Light' project, which connects different areas of the centre of Valladolid, creating a new night vision of the city. Valladolid's most important historic monuments and squares have been brought to life with light: some dressed in a new, more comfortable and elegant light, while others have suddenly emerged from the darkness.
