I realise that some members know me through the ILP and my work in the profession, but acknowledge that many of you will not be aware of me or my background in lighting. Starting 'on the tools' as an apprentice with London Transport in the 1970s, I worked my way through the maintenance, design and installation departments of the London Underground and ultimately became head of lighting and electrical services in the 1990s. Later I studied at the Bartlett, UCL, for the MSc in light and lighting, and also spent five years.working in lighting manufacturing. Since 2001, I've been an independent lighting consultant working primarily in the transport sector.
