FIRST COLUMN

Welcome to my third column in which I have the opportunity to express my views and thoughts about the activities of the institution. In my last column I made reference to the Memorandum of understanding between ourselves and the Lighting Division of CIBSE. This was formally signed at the Waldram lecture on the 8th December, a fitting event since this lecture is jointly organised by the two institutions. To many CIBSE members however the activities of the ILE are largely unknown, and vice-versa. For that reason we have, this month, exchanged journals. This will give members of both Institutions some insight into the activities of the other. For CIBSE Lighting Division members I therefore welcome you to the ILE Journal which is published Bi-monthly. I also hope that our own members will take time to read the Lighting Division's newsletter which is enclosed. Having been a member of both Institutions for a number of years I am particularly pleased that co-operation between them has reached this stage and hope we can move forward with more joint initiatives in the future.
