The column (1) has an inner column (5) supported in an outer column (6) such that the inner column is inserted and pushed-out through a telescopic opening (7) of the outer column. A guiding cage (10) guides the inner column into the outer column. A supporting roller (20) is attached at the inner column and/or outer column such that the roller rolls on an inner surface of the outer column and/or on an outer surface of the inner column during telescoping of the inner column against the outer column, respectively. The inner- and outer columns are formed as tubes.
