Perinatologisches Management

In recent decades pregnancy and birth have developed into a complex procedure. Specialized perinatology leads not only to a reduced neonatal mortality but also to an increased number of high-risk pregnancies and newborns. An optimal perinatological management is characterized by multidisciplinarity and an early, goal-directed flow of information and takes prenatal, intrapartal and postnatal aspects into account. This report provides information about the structural and logistic requirements for obstetric clinics, suggestions for interdisciplinary communication and considerations on specific features concerning newborn care from the view of a neonatologist.
