EXPLORING THE TRADE-OFFS: PAID WORK AND INTERGENERATIONAL ASSISTANCE AMONG BLACKS AND WHITES

摘要

Using data from the Health and Retirement Study, this paper examines the relationship between paid work and intergenerational caregiving for White and Black women and men.Focusing on care provided to elderly parents and to grandchildren, it explores racial differences and similarities in this relationship and assesses its direction separately for each race and gender group.
