REACTING TO CHANGE

摘要

When we formulated the content of the conference ― work that was done before the seismic events of September 2001― we didn't realise exactly how much the business environment would change. Our aim was to focus on different sectors of engineering and analyse the changes taking place. Professor John Fitzgerald kicked off the conference by giving us his economic perspective and his view that if the public belt was tightened for about 18 months the economy would come back on track. However, he was also of the view that spending on infrastructure must continue to address the deficit that still exists in this country.
