Bausch & Lomb recently received IEI CPD Accreditation award for its staff training and development programme. Catriona Boyle spoke to the company's Director of Manufacturing and Engineering and Deputy General Manager, Dr Oran McGrath, CEng, CPhys, FInstP and Principal Engineer for Automation, Robert Duggan, CEng, about their experiences. Bausch & Lomb is the eye health company, with revenues close to $2.5 billion, dedicated to perfecting vision and enhancing life for consumers around the world. The Waterford manufacturing plant opened in 1980 and has since grown to a 264,000 sq ft facility with over 1,700 employees, it is a multi-function complex which includes contact lens manufacturing, pharmaceutical, RD&E and surgical.
