Powering Ireland in 2010 and beyond

"At Bord Gais, we entered the retail residential electricity market in February 2009 with its memorable and highly effective 'Big Switch' campaign. Over 300,000 customers have switched to Bord Gais since. The retail market operations are backed by an extensive investment programme in power generation assets. In Ireland, Bord Gais is at the forefront of new energy advances and therefore has a considered view of developments. Bord Gais' current power generation assets programme includes:rn1. 445MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) at Whitegate, Co Cork, due for full commercial operation in summer 2010;rn2. 218MW of operational wind farms;rn3. 558MW of development wind farms;rn4. 400MW of open cycle gas turbine (OCGT) development sites; and,rn5. a gas storage feasibility project.
