Reinventing the west: Engineers Ireland West region proposes sustainable solutions

A report by Engineers Ireland West region, entitled Engineering the West to 2020 - Reinventing our Region was launched by John KiUeen Chartered Engineer, FIEI, chief executive of the Colas Group, on the eve of the Engineers Ireland Annual Conference The adoption of a sustainability framework for development is critical to re-inventing the region, according to the report. It is based on the 10 guiding principles of the One Planet Living approach which aims to achieve a balance between the needs of the environment, society and the economy. It has the potential to transform the West, bringing it in line with some of the most sustainable and liveable regions in the world, and it would be an exemplar in this country, the report contends.
