The process of innovation contains two central processes - analytical and interpretive -according to Professor Richard Lester, Director of the Industrial Performance Centre at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Professor Lester outlined his views on a recent visit to the Centre for Innovation & Structural Change (CISC) at NUI Galway. In Professor Lester's view, analytical processes are most useful when the alternatives are well understood and can be distinguished from each other.
