Let there be light rail

In the next few weeks two new public transport systems will enter service in London. One, Croydon Tramlink, is typical of the type of light rail system most UK cities planned a decade ago — but few of which have become reality. The other is an example of a cheaper alternative — a guided bus system running between Charlton railway station and the Millennium Dome.
