Design is becoming increasingly important to differentiate products and generate competitive advantage for companies in a crowded marketplace. Leading product designers say the way they work is changing, and 'integration' is the key word. Designers are moving away from simply styling to playing a full role, from concept through to manufacture. At the same time, there are moves to involve the customer more in the design process.
