With British flags from the Jubilee still flying in anticipation of the Olympic Games, a small Hampshire town is hoping to capitalise on the celebratory mood. On 9-15 July, Famborough will play host to some 1,400 exhibitors, 120,000 trade visitors, 152 aircraft and 70 delegations at the 49th biennial Famborough International Airshow (FIA). Technologies displayed will span the breadth of the aerospace, defence and security sectors, in what is expected to be one of the most impressive shows in its history. 'We hope that many people visiting the UK for the Olympics will attend the airshow too and celebrate the start of what will undoubtedly be an exciting summer,' said Shaun Ormrod, chief executive of organising group, Famborough International, which is expecting an increase in visitor numbers. As in previous years, the trade event will be held on Monday 9 July until Friday 13 July with a busy programme of networking events, displays, briefings and demonstrations.
