Exelon Pays $1.1 Million To Settle Tritium Leak Complaints In Illinois

Moving to extinguish an issue that is increasingly troublesome for the nuclear industry--and drawing growing attention from regulators-Exelon Generation Corp. announced last week it will pay $1.176 million to settle three civil complaints filed by state officials over leakage of tritium-contaminated wastewater into groundwater from the company's Braidwood, Byron and Dresden nuclear plants in the state.
