The New Year hadn't even arrived when we heard just as this issue was being completed that Ball Corporation had decided to sell its beverage can operations in China. While our attention in the UK had been drawn to the government's handling of its withdrawal from the EU, Ball - the largest manufacturer of cans - resolved to pull out of a market where margins had been tight for many years.
