2010 Survey of RESPA Developments

The year 2010 was one of the most significant in the history of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act ("RESPA") and its implementing Regulation X. The year began with the implementation of the long-awaited amendments to Regulation X to rewrite the core residential mortgage loan origination disclosure requirements of RESPA, including the Good Faith Estimate ("GFE") and HUD-1/1A Settlement Statements. In July 2010, the reform legislation known as the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act was signed into law.
