In the past year, the FTC has confirmed its commitment to privacy through increasing enforcement and releasing reports. In addition, the FTC has gone beyond its previous promise to protect consumer privacy through added initiatives. To promote children's privacy, the FTC suggested revising COPPA to add provisions and update definitions, notice, parental consent, confidentiality, and security requirements, and safe harbor programs. To address FCRA-related privacy issues, the FTC warned marketers with mobile background screening apps of possible violations.
