Astragal is sorry to hear of PR problems for the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The Jean Nouvel- designed project, as yet unbuilt, struck a deal with the French gallery - rumoured to be more than $ 1 billion - for use of its name for 30 years, and the loan of artworks. Now criticism of the arrangement as vulgar, 'culturally colonial' and the equivalent of opening a new branch of an existing institution has drawn an angry, if confusing, response from Rita Aoun-Abdo, cultural director of Abu Dhabi's Tourism Investment and Development Company.
