Originally a stables and coachman's living quarters, this late 19th century mews house is now an architects' studio and maisonette. When SPA took on the project, the building was fragmented in its use. The client wanted to create a home that could accommodate a family of four and a working studio which retained as many original features as possible. Another key objective was to reduce the building's carbon footprint by improving the building's envelope, following the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels and water consumption.
