Assael Architecture is a rarity. As a rule, architectural practices don't make it on to the Sunday Times Best Company To Work For list. Unfortunately within this industry, the stereotype of the megalomaniac boss, the difficult genius who implements a reign of terror, with long hours, low pay and low staff morale, often isn't too far from the truth. When architecture firms do make it on to the annual ranking of exemplar employers, it is all too often a one-off.
