At Park Hill we wanted to make the circulation an expressive feature. We played with a number of scenarios for the location and design of the main elements, both within the existing structure and outside of it. By placing the stair within the original structural frame, we were able to create a dynamic play between old and new; with the stair's mirror-polished stainless steel finish being a direct move to show the building's new identity, while also reflecting back the original grid from a multitude of new angles.The stair is finished on the inside in a dark green PPC which harmonises with the glazing frames of the facade and gives prominence to the mirror finish.
