Although many of us are drawn to the engineering bravado, sculptural qualities and extraverted townscape world of external envelope design, the brutal truth is if you can't design buildings with decent kitchens, bathrooms and washrooms, you may not be fully engaging with your briefs. Building users and clients spend a lot of time and money in these areas and they warrant imaginative design approaches. They're also highly functional, and what could be more vital than that?
