The loss of any of the Paolozzi murals atTottenham Court Rd station beneath Centre Point is deplorable, but so is what is happening to Centre Point itself-the listed magnum opus of Richard Seifert & Partners' George Marsh. I am not referring to the conversion to residential but to the removal of its expressive external staircases at ground level, and the cluttering of its forecourt with wholly inappropriate and unnecessary giant canopies over the entrances to the station below. If this can happen to a listed building what is the value of listing?
