It was a delight to work with the client, Ashton Sixth Form College, on this project. Their requirement was for a new student, staff and visitor entrance building for the college, which would replace the existing unassuming and counter-intuitive reception block, which had been historically 'added' to the gable of the original 1928 grammar school building. The new building would provide a reception office and waiting area together with additional meeting and conference space and ancillary accommodation. The client's main requirement was an exciting piece of architecture that would convey a strong message to existing and prospective students that the college is forward-thinking and innovative.
