A world-class sport hub has been created at the University of Warwick with the aid of steel construction. Last year Willmott Dixon completed the University of Warwick sports hub, a project that relied on steel construction's numerous attributes to deliver a project that has positioned the client as a leader in sports facilities, and on track to achieve its objective of being the "most physically active campus community in the UK by 2020". Students, staff, as well as the local community, now have access to a multi-functional sports hall and a 230-station gym - said to be the largest at a UK university. The hub also has a 25m-long 12-lane swimming pool that, with the touch of a button, allows flexible configuration and an adjustable height to accommodate different users and abilities. To top that, a dramatic 17m-high climbing wall offers 706m~2 of climbable surface, with 144 different routes.
