Braced for change

The Brunei Building is a 16-storey workplace with canal-side public realm and two rooftop terraces, located on the Grand Union Canal opposite Paddington station. The brief called for a building that would attract an interesting mix of occupiers while improving amenity for residents, visitors, commuters and the local council. The inventive, external steel diagrid is designed to make for a visually striking building as well as enabling highly flexible, column-free floorplates.
