Textile India Progress Urges Finance Minister to Provide Petrochemical intermediates and synthetic fibres and filament yarns at international prices

In its Post-Budget Memorandum to Finance Minister, Government of India, Textile India Progress has urged the Government to provide at international prices all petrochemical intermediates required such as DMT, PTA, MEG, Caprolactum, Acrylonitrile, Wood Pulp, Paraxylene and Benzene. The Memorandum has also urged the Finance Minister to reduce excise duties to 8% on all categories of synthetic fibres and filament yarns, such as polyester staple fibre, acrylic staple fibre, viscose staple fibre, polyester filament yarn, nylon filament yarn and viscose filament yarn. Providing petrochemical intermediates at international prices to the synthetic fibres and filament yarn industry and providing all categories of synthetic fibres and filament yarns to the organized mill sector, handloom and powerloom sectors will bring down substantially the prices of fibres and yarns in the country and result in rapid growth of India's textile industry.
