Textile India Progress Urges Finance Minister to Slash Excise and Import Duties on Synthetic Fibres and Filament Yarns

Textile India Progress has strongly advocated the slashing of excise and import duties on synthetic fibres and filament yarns, and the critical inputs to manufacture these products, such as DMT, PTA and MEG, Wood Pulp Benzene, Caprolac-tum and Acrylonitrile, slash excise duties on blended yarn, fabrics and numerous textile products, to bring down the high cost of textiles in India. In a detailed threadbare note presented to Finance Minister, Textile India Progress has strongly urged Mr Palaniappan Chidambaram to reduce import and excise duties on all petrochemical inputs going into the manufacture of synthetic fibres and filament yarns, such as DMT, PTA, MEG, Acrylonitrile, Benzene, Ca-prolactum, etc. The note further suggested to Mr Chidambaram to reduce excise and import duties on all synthetic fibres and filament yarns such as viscose staple fibre, acrylic staple fibre and polyester staple fibre, viscose filament yarn, nylon filament yarn and polyester filament yarn.
