The money should come pouring through the door any. day now. In fact, if we believe the analysts' predic- tions, the cash from selling mobile content should even be seeping up through the drains. For the past three years, my own company has been one of the many that have been up the creek of high-revenue expectation, without a consistent business model paddle. So far, the revenues from video on mobile have been more of a trickle than a torrent - although the advent of 3G in Europe last year has meant a significant upturn. But for a TV news company, can we expect the 3G mobile world to grow a vibrant new market? In the always-on world, will users be prepared to accept similar sorts of video services to those tried and tested in the broadcast markets? The only way to find out was to tap "the mobile generation" - young adults who rely on their phones for information, as well as communication, and who can afford to pay for content if they want it.
