The RTS Young People's Media Festival, held at the University of Sunderland, was a big hit with both the young film-makers and TV professionals. "Very slick and professionally done" and "the children really enjoyed seeing their work on the big screen" were just two of the reactions. The junior festival celebrated the creative talent of children aged five to 13 in the RTS North East and the Border Centre region. It attracted eight entries involving 91 young film-makers, who received certificates from BBC News reporter Sharon Barbour. There were two outstanding entries: Blitz, made by year 5 and 6 pupils from Benton Park Primary School, Newcastle Upon Tyne, which the judges praised for sensitively handling its subject matter; and Autism, made by three pupils from Richard Rose Morton Academy in Carlisle, which impressed the judges for its professional look and clever ending.
